Software Developer

Me

I am a Software Developer based out of Southaven MS. I am currently working remotely in the Backend at FedEx with Cook Systems using mainly Springboot, Redis, Swagger, and Splunk, but have also done some work with Jenkins Pipelines, SonarQube, and ReadyAPI. In my spare time I am a Javascript/Frontend junkie and am constantly growing my Frontend Skills in React, Gatsby, Tailwind and upcoming technologies like Svelte. I also do a bit of freelancing in the ecommerce space using Shopify.

Projects

Pine Ridge Tiny Home Project

This Project is a Landing page to help gain support and donations to aid the Pine Ridge Tiny Homes Project which helps to support the conversion of shipping containers into cozy, energy-efficient, tornado-proof homes, and transports them to Pine Ridge, South Dakota to ease the stress of homelessness and overpopulated households on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Designs done in collaberation with Madison Boren

Techy Themed Random Quote Generator

This project was built with React and Tailwind, the focus of this project was dive deeper into learning ReactJS and the ecosystem surronding it, as well as further grow my knowledge of React Hooks, using apis, and fetching data in react with Async Await. This project was built as a part of obtaining FreeCodecamp's Frontend Libraries Certification.

Rock Paper Scissors RPG Game

This project was built from scratch using Vanilla JS, HTML, CSS, and Inkscape with the goal in mind of over doing a simple program/game to make it unique, aesthetic, and fun. I also used this project as a way for me to exponentially grow my knowledge of and familiarity with Vanilla Javascript. I also took this opportunity to learn a bit more about UI design and tools I can use to customize or design svg graphics I use for my projects.

Weather App

This project is for Tech901's 14 week Web Programming Bootcamp. In this challenge I was assigned the task of creating a seven day weather app from scratch using open weathers maps API's, vanilla JS, HTML, and S(C)SS.

To Do List

To Do List Project
This project is for Tech901's 14 week Web Programming Bootcamp. In this challenge, I tasked with creating a simple To-Do List from scratch with vanilla JS in order to practice DOM manipulation, working with basic objects, and working with local storage.

Sprite Page Clone

This project was one of my first JavaScript projects that was focused on DOM manipulation. I built this while attending Tech901's 14 week Web Programing Bootcamp. In this project I was given a mockup, similarly to how I would be given a mock up in industry, and challenged to recreate that mockup. I was also tasked with implementing a number of my own responsive design tweaks to the mock up via adding in Javascript.

Landing Page

I built this project to more familiarize myself with responsive design, web design, and UI design. In this project I focused on building everything from scratch, as well as coming up with my own color pallette, and theme for fictional gym. I also used this project as an introduction to adding videos as a responsive background to a website, as well as begin getting familiar with editing videos/media for websites.

About

Hi, if you made it this far congrats! This is the part where I tell you more about me. My name is Cole and I love to coding, specifically I like to create fun, exciting, and design minded creative projects all while listening to my favorite lofi music.

How I work is simple. I am comfortable working in both the frontend as well as the backend, however I think I shine best with frontend work. I also bring to the table my hard work ethic from my prior career in geology/engineering, as well as my tenacity and determination learned through powerlifting. This enables me to be an adaptable, quick learning software developer. I am always ready to push my limits to learn whatever is necessary to complete the job at hand. I greatly value collaborative teamwork and communication. I focus on being a good team player. I strive to be helpful and willing to fill any team need in order to get the job done. I do not mind speaking in front of others, taking the lead when needed, or sitting back taking directions. I like to ask questions, and I do not mind being asked questions. I do not shy away from taking on extra tasks or having to tackle problems by myself.
